Kathmandu, Jan. 2: The government Friday urged all political parties, leaders, public and civil society members to get prepared to participate in the elections to be held on April 30 and May 10 next year.
“The government is committed to holding the elections on the scheduled dates of April 30 and May 10, 2021, and we would like to appeal to all to participate in the elections,” Minister for Communication and Information Technology Parbat Gurung said while making various Cabinet decisions public today.
“The government has begun preparations for holding the elections in the stipulated time frame and urged public to remain positive towards the government decision to dissolve the House of Representatives and announce fresh polls,” Minister Gurung said.
Speaking at a regular press conference held at the Ministry this evening, Minister Gurung said that the government’s decision to dissolve the HoR is based on constitutional norms and is a fully legitimate and democratic exercise.
He also requested to all people not to get confused with the government’s move. “The decision to dissolve House is taken as per the constitutional provisions,” Minister Gurung said.
Commenting on the street protests being organised by various political parties over the days, Minister Gurung said that they had taken to the streets without any political agenda and they were ignoring political culture while chanting slogans.
Also, the government has given permission to acquire about 75 Bigahas land remained around Tialurakot of Kapilvastu district including 35 houses located in the area.
The Cabinet meeting has promoted Brigadier General Dr. Devendra Bahadur Khatri to the post of Major General under technical service.
