Kathmandu July 7: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) Monday formally announced removal of board examinations of grade 11 from this year across the country. The Ministry declared that from this year 11th graders would be upgraded to grade 12 through internal evaluation of the school itself.
Issuing a statement on Monday, the ministry informed that a board meeting of the National Curriculum Development and Evaluation Council held on Friday had taken this decision. Until now the National Examination Board used to take the board examinations of grade 11 as of grade 10 and grade 12.
Earlier, the ministry had postponed pre-scheduled examinations of grade 11 and 12. Along with the decision of the government, the students who were in dilemma about the examination have felt relieved. However, the ministry has not yet prepared working procedure of the examinations. The NEB will prepare the directive soon and bring it into effect, Puran KC, personal secretary of Minister for Education, Science and Technology Girirajmani Pokharel, said.
Though the ministry paved the way to clear the confusion regarding grade 11 examinations, it has not taken any decision about grade 12 examinations, which were also postponed indefinitely. The government is still hopeful to conduct board examinations of grade 12 because grade 12 is the final stage of school education. A month ago, the government had decided to publish the results of this year’s Secondary Education Examination (SEE) or grade 10 examinations on the basis of internal evaluation. However, the government decision about SEE was meant only for this year.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by KC stated that the meeting of the Technical Education and Vocational Training Council (CTEVT) held this Friday approved Training Operations Procedures through Alternative Modes, 2077. This procedure will help conduct technical training through alternative media during this pandemic, the ministry stated.
Likewise, the ministry has also informed that it has approved Learning Facilitation Format in Higher Education through Alternative Modes, 2077. Now, the procedure has been sent to the University Grants Commission (UGC) for approval.
The Format will be implemented by 11 universities across the country after it is approved by the UGC board, the ministry said. The format will be supportive to run classes in universities through alternative modes during this pandemic.
