Jajarkot, May 27 : Former Member of Parliament, Ratna Prasad Sharma Neupane has died.
He was undergoing treatment at the Armed Police Force (APF) Hospital in Kathmandu and breathed his last on Wednesday night, said Madan Ratna Neupane, the former lawmaker's son.
Initially fallen ill due to coronavirus infection, Neupane's health condition deteriorated and became serious after pneumonia infection in the lungs.
He was admitted to the Birendra Police Hospital in Kathmandu on May 6 and was later shifted to the ICU at the APF Hospital. He was put on a ventilator after 10 days after his condition became serious.
According to Madan, Neupane had tested negative to coronavirus infection in his latest test but he was found suffering from pneumonia.
Hailing from Suwanauli, Chhedagad municipality-6 in Jajarkot district, Neupane was elected the member of the House of Representatives on the UML ticket from Jajarkot constituency no 2 in the general election held in 2056 BS.
Lately, he was the CPN (UML) Karnali Province Committee member, the central vice-president and the Karnali Province in-charge of the Peasants' Federation affiliated to the UML.
