Kathmadnu, Dec. 21: Bishwo Niketan-Gambhir Man Foundation has installed the bust of Gambhir Man Maskey, former headmaster of Bishwo Niketan High School, on the school premises at Tripureshwor.
Former headmasters of the school Satya Narayan Rajbhandari, Kamala Shakya and Nirmal Giri along with Dr. Heramba Bahadur Maskey, one of his close friends, unveiled the bust jointly last Saturday, coinciding his death anniversary.
Speaking at the function, Manju Adhikari, who once worked as a teacher at Bishwo Niketan, said simplicity was Maskey’s identity. “Gambhir Man Sir always encouraged teachers, staff and students and treated them in a friendly way.”
Gopal Shrestha, an ex-student of the school who now chairs the school management committee, said that Maskey’s students had done a commendable job by installing his bust within the school premises.
Maskey’s granddaughter, Dr. Safala Maskey, said that her grandfather always inspired the family members to be a good person which, she said, was exemplary for everyone.
On behalf of the Foundation, Bindra Kashyapati Pradhan, said that they aimed at expanding Maskey’s dedication to education, adding the Foundation would carry out activities for the promotion of education in the days ahead. She also thanked everyone who had made contribution to install Maskey’s bust in the school.
Incumbent Headmaster of the school, Heramba Raj Kandel, praised the Foundation’s work as worth emulating. “Bishwo Niketan was synonymous to Gambhir Man and vice-versa and the installation of the bust has consummated the association.”
Earlier, the Foundation had published The Lingering Image of My Daydreams, the English version of a book Maskey had authored in Nepali.
Maskey had passed away over a year ago at age of 86. He had joined Bishwo Niketan School as an English teacher in 2017 BS and served as school headmaster from 2023 to 2051 BS.
