Bajura, Oct. 22: Fresh flood and landslide has disrupted dozens of rural roads in Bajura and district Sanfe-Martadi Lokmarga, which was just restored after months of the disruption.
Landslides triggered by the torrential post-monsoon rain since Saturday night have caused massive damage to the rural roads of the district.
With the initiative of Bajura District Administration Office (DAO) and with the support of the local levels, all these rural roads of the district have been restored just before the Dashain after five months of the obstruction.
The Barjugard-Martadi road section remained obstructed since June 6 this year.
The link road to Badimalika, Budiganga, Tribeni Municipality, Khaptad Chededah, Budnanda, Himali, Jagannath Swami Kartik Rural Municipality have been obstructed as the landslide hit the route.
The vehicular movement has been resumed after conducting the repair work. But the repaired roads lasted only for a few days before the surface was again swept away by the recent landslides.
According to the District Police Office, landslides have rendered the highway impassable. The surface of the rural roads started to develop cracks as the landslide hit the route from above and below the hill.
The DAO has been asking the Road Division, Accham to conduct the repair work to restore the damaged roads. However, the division will start the repair work soon after it stops raining, said Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari.
It will take some time to repair the damaged roads, said Road Division Sanphebgar.
Since vehicular movement has been completely affected in the district, traders have been facing a hard time transporting goods in Martadi.
The consumers are forced to buy daily necessities at high prices as it is inconvenient for the traders to transport goods during the festival.
Vehicles are stranded on the midway due to the road obstruction.
Ram Bahadur Budha, a hotelier of Martadi Gauri Bazaar said that there were problems in transporting the goods. Dozens of the rural roads in the district were becoming deserted again after the vehicles stopped at lokmarga.
CDO Adhikari said since the weather has been improving in Bajura since Thursday, the road division office would resume vehicular movement in a few days.
