By Krishna Tiwari, Garuda, Dec. 7: Former Minister and lawmaker of Nepali Congress Mohammad Aftab Alam's brother Mohammad Mahatab Alam has been arrested in Motihari of India.
Mahatab Alam was arrested by the Indian police in Motihari, India on Sunday.
According to a highly placed source, Indian police detained him and processes are under way to bring him to Rautahat, Nepal, in coordination bewteeen the Indian police and Nepal police. A team from the State Police Office has reached Motihari to bring him to Nepal.
Mahatab had been absconding since it came to light that he had been involved in the incident of bomb blast in Rajpur of his own village Rautahat on April 9, 2008.
The mastermind of the incident, Congress MP and former minister Aftab Alam, had already been arrested and is currently in Nakhu Jail in Lalitpur district. Rautahat police had arrested Aftab on October 14, 2019 and filed a case against him.
It is alleged that 12 people, including Trilok Pratap Singh, 24, and Oshi Akhtar, 22, who were injured in the blast at the house of Alam's uncle Sheikh Idris on the eve of the CA election, were burnt alive by a group of his brothers and supporters in the brick kiln.
