Bhaktapur, June 19: Japan’s Kobayashi Foundation has presented the ‘sixth Kobayashi Foundation Award-2020’ to senior oncologist Dr Sudip Shrestha in recognition of his contribution to the comprehensive cancer treatment in Nepal.
The Foundation announced that it honoured Dr Shrestha, chair of Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center Harisiddhi, with the award carrying a purse of around 500 thousand Japanese Yen (equivalent to Rs 538 thousand) towards the Health Professional genre amidst a virtual event on cancer held in Japan this morning.
Dr Shrestha will be receiving the prize money and a letter of appreciation this week. Thailand’s Dr Arunee Dechaphunkul and Hong Kong’s Prof Dr Tony Mok are the other recipients of the ‘sixth Kobayashi Foundation Award-2020’.
On the occasion, Dr Shrestha said though cancer hospitals in Nepal were facing some difficulties in rendering medical care to their patients amidst the second wave of COVID-19, it all was being done with the implementation of personal safety measures, keeping the confidence of health/medical professionals high.
