Sankhuwasabha, Dec. 31: An Ayurveda hospital located at the meeting point of Silinchowk Rural Municipality Ward No 1, 2 and 3 at Sisuwatar in Budhabare, Sankhuwasabha district has been running services from building that has remained in a dilapidated state.
The Ayurveda hospital has been providing its services from such building for many years. Though the building meant for the hospital started its construction five years back, it has remained incomplete. No progress has been made except for erecting its pillars.
The hospital which is operated by an Ayurveda doctor (kabiraj) and three other health workers is on the verge of collapse at any time. The health workers are sitting at a place where cartoons at the walls were pasted at the dilapidated building.
“We are using medicine cartoons for stopping the wind entering inside,” said Dr. Sanjay Kumar Prajapati. The building is in such a sorry state that we never know when it will collapse and we will be crushed,” said Dr Prajapati.
Health workers who are compelled to provide services from the building are also on the verge of losing their confidence, said Dr. Prajapati.
In the year 2016, the then Ayurveda Department with the help of District Development Committee provided Rs. 4 million. But this amount was utilised only for erecting the pillars.
With the construction of the pillars, the structure could not be completed in a lack of additional budget. Now the structure and the pillars are also in a sorry state.
According to Chief of the rural municipality Ram Bahadur Kulung, though the construction of Ayurveda building is in their priority, it has not been completed due to technical problems.
“We were not able to complete the Ayurveda building, as we are not authorised to add the structure,” said Kulung.
It was due to the lack of sufficient pillars and lack of required iron steels to complete the building, said Kulung.
Chairman Kulung informed that during an inspection by an engineer it was found that the foundation of the building had technical errors and on such foundation the building could never be built.
The building lacks pillars at its middle. It has pillars only at sides, due to which engineers have said that it would not hold the load of even a storey, said Kulung.
“We have initiated to destroy the structure and construct the building at another place but different authorities were against our decision,” said ward chair of Silinchowk Rural Municipality-2 Mohan Shumsher Kulung.
Thus now any procedure for construction of Aayurved pharmacy has been halted, added Kulung.
“We also lack another appropriate place for the construction of building,” said Kulung.
He blamed contractors who left the construction work at the middle of the project. “We are planning to construct the building using roofs of corrugated iron within next year,” said Kulung.
