Cultural and Tourism festivals in Tanahun and Kavre

Fourth Adibasi Janajati Cultural and Tourism Festival kicked off at Damauli, the district headquarters of Tanahun district on Wednesday.

The festival was organised by the federation of Nepal Adibasi Janajati District Coordination Council and various wings of the federation.

Member of house of opportunities from constituency no 1 of Tanahun district Krishna Kumar Shresth ‘Kishan’ inaugurated the festival amidst a function organised at the exhibition ground.

Cultural exhibition, Adibashi Janajati special exhibition, cultural performance by local and national artists, comedy, Kaura dance and folk song competition are the major attraction of the festival.

Similarly, tour of religious and historical, agriculture exhibition, sales and education fair and science exhibition,  automobile exhibition and sales, rafting in Madi and Seti River, photo exhibition and food festival, health camp and information and communication exhibition are other activities in the festival.

There are 230 commercial stalls of various sectors in the festival which will continue until November 16.

Basundhara Gharti, coordinator of the festival and president of Tanahun chapter of the federation said that they had expected around 300,000 visitors in the festival and transaction of worth Rs. 30 million.

Meanwhile, according to our Kavre correspondent, youth of Bhumlu Rural Municipality of the district are set to organise ‘First Mulkharka Bhimsensthan Festival’ on November 8 and 9 targeting the Visit Nepal Year (VNY) 2020 which the country is celebrating next year.

Organising a press conference today in Dhulikhel, they said that the festival was organised to attract foreign and internal tourists in the region through the publicity of local tourism sites fallen under shadow.

Milan Kumar Budhathoki, coordination of the festival organizing committee, said that the festival was organised to bring tourism sites of the remote area into the light.

Budhathoki informed that the festival being organised on the occasion of Haribodhini Ekadashi would held at Bhimsensthan Temple premises.

According to Budhathoki, beautiful sun rise and sun set as well as scenery of Ganesh, Jugal and Gaurishankar mountains can be viewed from the festival area.  

Traditional local cultural demonstration, songs, dance and comedy from local and national artists will be major attractions of the festival. Bhumlu Rual Municipality   has given public holiday on the occasion of Haribodhini Ekadashi on November 8.
