COVID-19 cases through PCR test fall to 101

Kathmandu, Feb. 27: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Saturday recorded 155 new cases of COVID-19. Of them, 101 were detected through PCR tests and 54 through antigen tests.
According to the MoHP, the nationwide COVID-19 tally through PCR method reached 976,771 and that through antigen tests reached 139,309.

Of the total 5,152 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 2,239 were Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) while 2,913 were antigen tests, informed the MoHP.
According to the MoHP, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 27 new infections over that period. Of these, 20 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, one in Bhaktapur and seven in Lalitpur. In the past 24 hours, eight new infections were recorded in Province 1; 16 in Madhes Province; 39 in Bagmati; 36 in Gandaki; 13 in Lumbini; five in Karnali and two in Sudhurpachhim Province.

The active caseload declined to 8,839 on Saturday. Of the active cases, 261 patients are admitted to various health facilities while the remaining 8,578 are in home isolation.
Similarly, 92 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country. Similarly, another 14 patients are receiving treatment with ventilator support.
Meanwhile, 540 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection during that period. Nepal has now recorded 955,998 cases of recovery.

The country also reported two deaths related to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 11,934. The recovery rate of COVID-19 has increased to 97.9 per cent and death rate is at 1.2 per cent as of today.

The MoHP informed that of the total population, 18,469,445 people had received their first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 and that 17,382,138 had received their full dose as of Saturday. The MoHP has administered 1,091,659 booster shots of the vaccines so far. In total, 129,119 were vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
