Kathmandu, Feb 28: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Padma Kumari Aryal, said a new map of the country would be issued soon.
At a news conference organised here Friday, Minister Aryal opined that a technical committee formed to collect feedback on new map had furnished its recommendations.
The activities in this regard have reached the final stage and the technical team of the Survey Department is also in the committee, she added.
The Land Management Minister shared that activities to form commission in order to resolve problem of unorganized settlement and landless squatters was in the final phase. The Ministry has retrieved 284 bighas of land registered in the name of individuals in different parts of the country, to the government's ownership.
On the occasion, Spokesperson at the Ministry, Janakraj Joshi, informed that lands in Bara, Kalaiya, Rasuwa, Makawanpur, Bhojpur, Banke and Siraha, among other districts were brought back and registered in the name of the government.
The Ministry has been making preparation to bring Land Act (eighth amendment), to form a committee for the protection of Guthi land and to formulate integrated land act to resolve problem of landless squatters.
Moreover, online service was being provided at 108 land revenue and survey offices for easy and smooth public service delivery and to maintain good governance, it was said.
A lidar scanning technology was brought into practice to conduct real measurement of the land for the first time. Land Use Act-2076 and National Land Policy 2075 were brought into implementation to guarantee the appropriate use of the land, added the Ministry.
Similarly, a total of 193 border pillars were constructed at Nepal-India border and 890 pillars repaired, it is learnt.
