Kathmandu, Oct. 31: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoPH) on Friday issued a public awareness message regarding the precaution measures one should take while shopping during the festive time.
Through the message, the MoPH has asked public to shift to online shopping if possible. “If you need to go outside for shopping, use mask compulsorily and properly and maintain social distancing,” it said.
The ministry has also urged people to buy daily goods from the nearby shops and choose the time when there will be fewer people in the shops.
Likewise, the MoPH has also asked public to wash their hands with soap or use hand sanitizer before and after shopping.

It has also urged people to opt for digital payment or take changes while going for shopping.
“If possible, you should immediately take a bath after returning from shops, and if this is not possible, at least wash your hands, face and foot using soap and water,” the message read.
The ministry has also asked people to keep their clothes in isolation once they return from shopping and use them only after washing. Those who have to go out regularly for their job should maintain minimum physical distance with other family members. The ministry has further asked people to clean the frequently used areas of their vehicles with chlorine solution or sanitizer.
Meanwhile, to contain the virus outbreak, the ministry has also issued an awareness message for the shopkeepers during the festive season.
The ministry has asked shopkeepers to keep their shops open from early morning to late night so that the customers could visit their shops at different times.
It has also urged shopkeepers to encourage customers to properly wear masks, maintain physical distance and hand hygiene.
It asked shopkeepers to display a public notice of preventive measures in a visible place.
