Nepalgunj, Dec. 20: Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhakri has directed the concerned authorities to complete the construction of the regional prison and Bheri Hospital buildings as soon as possible.
Minister Jhakri, who is now touring Banke, on Sunday inspected the construction sites of the buildings and instructed the officials to complete the construction of the two projects as soon as possible.
Jhakri directed to complete the construction of the jail by mid-April. The prison building, the largest one in Lumbini, with a capacity to accommodate 3,000 inmates, lies in Baijnath Rural Municipality-3 of Banke.
She said that construction of a building of the prison with a capacity to put 1,500 inmates should be completed in the first phase by mid-April and the construction of the second building with same capacity be built thereafter.
On the occasion, Padam Kumar Mainali, director general of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, informed that the prison was being constructed in 10 bighas of land. Mainali, said that the prison will be equipped with health, drinking water, sports and other facilities.
According to Mainali, 45 per cent of work of the first phase has completed. He expressed his commitment that the construction of the jail building would be completed by mid-April as the structures of the buildings were ready, leaving only the finishing works.
Similarly, Minister Jhakri also directed to complete the construction of the new building of Bheri Hospital as soon as possible.
Jhakri said, “The hospital provides health care to millions of people in western Nepal, therefore, the construction of the 250-bed hospital building has to be completed as soon as possible.” Krishna Prasad Shrestha, member of Hospital Development Committee, said that the hospital was seeking further support for its physical development.
