Surkhet, Dec. 2: Chief Minister of Karnali Pradesh Mahendra Bahadur Shahi Monday instructed the ministers and secretaries not to leave the State for coming three months and concentrate on budget implementation.
Minister Shahi told the ministers and secretaries not to leave the State at least for three months citing that performances of all ministries were poor in the first four months of the current fiscal year.
The ministries of Karnali State have spent only 1.61 per cent of the total budget during the first four months of the current fiscal year.
The State has spent only 0.35 per cent (Rs. 74 million) of the capital budget and 3.68 per cent (Rs. 479 million) of the recurrent expenditure budget.
He said that the upcoming three months would be important for the budget expenditure so no minister and secretary are allowed to go outside the State.
“I want to request you to focus on budget implementation. You do not go anywhere, no matter whether they are the programmes of the federal government or non-governmental organisations,” he said.
The progress of all ministries should be at least 45 per cent by the first eight months of the current fiscal year, he said.
He said that he would evaluate the performance of the ministers and secretaries in the upcoming three months.
Chief Minister Shahi said that there was no excuse for lingering in budget implementation and negligence in implementing the policies and programmes and budget as well which was approved by State Assembly.
He also directed the ministers and secretaries to move ahead by resolving practical and policy level hurdles if surfaced during the budget execution.
“I want to request the ministries and secretaries to raise your hand if you do not work honestly. The budget execution should be increased at any cost,” he said.
