Narayangadh, Apr. 17: After the confirmed cases of COVID-19 were increasing in the country, the security arrangements in Chitwan district have been made stricter, according to the District Administration Office, Chitwan.
A meeting of the District Security Committee held on Thursday decided to take strong measures to implement the lockdown more effective from Friday.
Assistant Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma said the district administration office would take strong measures to enforce the lockdown in the district for the safety of the people.
“Considering the possible outbreak of the deadly virus, we will not let anyone inside the valley from any of the entry points, except for essential services and emergency situation,” said Sharma.
The security arrangement would be made stricter to stop unnecessary mobility of people during the lockdown, he added.
The security forces would take action against the people who will found responsible for defying the lockdown rule, said Sharma, adding that from now onward no one would be allowed to roam around the district except for emergency.
Prior to this, Coronavirus Control Task Force, Chitwan has suggested the district administration to take strong measures to enforce the lockdown stating that the risk of coronavirus outbreak has considerably increased.
Only vehicles offering essential services, like water tankers, ambulances, garbage trucks, fuel tanker, fire engines and vehicles transporting milk and foodstuffs would be allowed to ply on Chitwan roads, said Sharma.
Only the shops of water, medicines and fuels would be allowed to open completely, he added.
Likewise, those vehicles carrying food stuffs, livestock and cycles and door-to-door selling of foodstuffs and vegetables would be partially open, he said, adding that such shops would be permitted to open from 10 am to 4 pm.
He further added that the legal action would be taken against those who are found breaching the lockdown rules as per the local administrative act.
As per the act, a person who violate this act or disregard any order issued under this act would be liable to punishment of imprisonment for six months.
