School enrollment campaign was declared to be completely successful in Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality, Saptari on last Friday, the campaign was found to be limited only in papers.
With the support from the Save the Children and Save the Saptari, the Rural Municipality, by spending thousands of rupees, declared that the school enrollment campaign was completely successful for the children aged 5-12 years.
“Strengthening public education system is our promise” was the slogan of the campaign.
But the children belonging to Dom and Mushahar communities of Ward No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the Rural Municipality do not even know what a school look like.
Jaya Prakash Yadav, coordinator of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) for Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality, said that children of hundreds of families in Dhobiyai and Mankhusi in Ward no. 3 had not been to school.
“On the one hand, the Rural Municipality has declared the campaign successful while children of Dhobiyai, on the other hand are busy in labour works and household chores,” said Yadav.
Headmaster of Shree Primary School Govindapur Baladev Mukhiya said how the rural municipality made such declaration when several children of Mushar settlement had not enrolled in school.
