Bhaktapur, June 19: Changunarayan and Madhyapur Thimi municipalities of Bhaktapur district have aided financial support to Melamchi and Helambu municipalities of Sindhupalchowk district to contribute to the latter’s efforts for providing relief to the survivors of recent floods and landslides.
An executive meeting of Changunarayan municipality on Friday decided to extend financial assistance of Rs 1 million to Melamchi Municipality and Rs 500 thousand to Helambu municipality, shared Changunarayan Mayor Som Prasad Mishra. A team of Mayor Mishra and Deputy Mayor Bina Basnet has set out to Melamchi today to coordinate the efforts.
Likewise, Madhyapur Thimi municipality also decided to extend financial support of Rs 2.2 million to the disaster-ravaged Melamchi and Helambu municipalities.
A meeting of the Madhyapur Thimi executives on Friday took the decision to provide Rs 1 million 111 thousand 111 to Melamchi and Rs 1 million 111 thousand 111 too Helambu to contribute to the relief and rescue efforts, Madhyapur Thimi Mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha said.
The assistance amount will be sent to the affected municipalities through bank accounts, he informed.
