Kathmandu, Apr. 22: Weather in the Kathmandu Valley and other areas in the hilly regions has remained partly to generally cloudy throughout the day bringing brief rains in some parts of the country on Wednesday.
According to Meteorologist Samir Kumar Shrestha at Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, cloud has covered most parts of the country since Wednesday morning and some places of the valley received light rains.
"There was no sunshine in the valley all day on Wednesday," said meteorologist Shrestha. "It is likely to rain again in the evening.” He also predicted possibility of heavy to moderate rains in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces.
According to meteorologist Shrestha, it has also snowed in many parts of the country since Wednesday morning in the high mountain region. "If it rains heavily, we will get rid of air pollution," he said. Light rains alone would not be sufficient to reduce the level of air pollution, he said.
Shrestha, however, said that the possibility of strong wind was low. “But as it is pre-monsoon, there is a possibility of thunder, lightning and wind at any time.
In the last 24 hours, Jumla received 8 mm of rainfall, Dadeldhura 3 mm, Ghorah 2.7 mm and Dipayal 0.3 mm. Light rains were also traced in Dhangadi, Nepalgunj, Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Bhairahawa.
