Boycotting CWC, Paudel panel in NC holds separate meeting

Kathmandu, Jan. 3: Boycotting the Central Working Committee meeting of Thursday, the rival factions of the Nepali Congress held a separate meeting on Thursday.
NC senior leader Ram Chandra Paddle- led panel held its meeting at NC general secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala’s Maharajgunj residence while NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba was chairing a meeting at the party central office, Sanepa of Lalitpur.
The establishment faction discussed about upcoming election of the National Assembly, said NC CWC member NP Saud.
NC senior leader-led team discussed about how they could press Deuba to withdraw unilaterally taken decisions on the 14th general convention calendar, to form departments and extend the tenure of the Nepal Tarun Dal.
Hirdaya Ram Thani, who attended in the Paddle panel’s meeting, informed that the meeting discussed about making o the upcoming assembly of the party District chairs more effective.
Dissenting District chairs are holding a meeting on Jan 6 in Kathmandu.
Thani said his panel would take chance to exert pressure on party president Deuba to withdraw the CWC’s recent decisions through District Committee chairs meeting.
NC rival factions were boycotting the party meeting expressing dissatisfaction over the decisions unilaterally taken by the establishment faction.
However, Deuba has publicly defended his decisions and is holding meetings even when the rival faction was boycotting it.
