Lalitpur, Mar. 29:Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal has urged the locals of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-22 to launch 'One House, One Tourist' campaign targeting domestic and foreign tourists.
"As well as generating income, it will also help in the promotion of Nepal's art and culture. It also helps in marketing of local products," she said while inaugurating the newly constructed suspension bridge in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-22 Monday.
The suspension bridge has been constructed to connect the religious, cultural and tourist areas of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-22.
Bhusal expressed confidence that the bridge connecting religious and tourist centres would help in the preservation of Nepal's handicrafts, woodcrafts and sculpture.
She said that the suspension bridge would also prove to be a milestone in the promotion of domestic and foreign tourism.
The length of the bridge is 135 metres. The construction of the bridge has been completed at a cost of Rs. 7.976 million. The suspension bridges in the valley have been a tourist attraction.
It is hoped that the construction of the bridge connecting Karyabinayak and Machhindrabahal will help in tourism promotion.
As there was no bridge at that place, it was difficult for tourists to reach Karyabinayak and Machhindrabahal. With the construction of the bridge, it has become possible to reach both the places in a short period of time, she said.
According to the locals, the construction of the bridge will facilitate the domestic and foreign tourists to visit both the places.
With the increase in tourism activities in the area, the arrival of foreign tourists will help in the globalisation of Nepal's handicrafts, woodwork and sculpture.
The bridge has been constructed at the initiative of Minister Bhusal from the budget under the local infrastructure development programme.
Ward Chairman of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-22 Ambir Raj Shakya said that the bridge was constructed realising the need to connect two tourist sites with high potential of religion and culture.
He thanked the government for supporting the aspirations of the locals.
