Artistes continue to assist Melamchi flood victims

Artistes meet Minister for Health and Population Sher Bahadur Tamang in Kathmandu to discuss relief assistance to flood victims.

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, June 21: Actress Karishma Manandhar has decided to provide Rs. 100,000 to the flood victims of Sindhupalchowk district.

Actress Manandhar said that she would provide assistance to the artiste committee formed under the coordination of actor Krishna Malla to help the Melamchi flood victims.

Taking to Facebook, Manandhar has requested other artists as well to donate to the fund to support the victims of the natural calamity.

The committee formed in the presence of Health Minister Sher Bahadur Tamang, Sindhupalchok District Coordination Committee chairman Krishna Gopal Tamang, Melamchi Municipality Mayor Dambar Bahadur Aryal and other representatives is going to call for help for the reconstruction of the damaged structures in the flood-affected areas.

Along with actress Manandhar, many artists have provided help for the flood victims of Melamchi. Actresses Sweta Khadka, Pooja Sharma, Aanchal Sharma and others had already reached Melamchi and distributed relief to the flood victims.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Deepashree Niraula and actress Swastima Khadka also returned from Melamchi after distributing relief.

They distributed blankets, mats, rice, noodles, biscuits and sanitary pads to the flood victims. They said that the people of Melamchi were still in need of help and they urged everyone to help them in time of difficulty.

A team including comedian Kumar Kattel reached Melamchi on Thursday and distributed relief. Similarly, director Milan Chams and other artists also went to Melamchi and distributed relief to the flood and landslide victims.
