By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Apr. 16: The Armed Police Force Headquarters (APF-HQ), Halchowk has deployed additional 8,383 forces in the southern border on Thursday after the Ministry of Home Affairs instructed
it to do so to check human movement during the time of nationwide lockdown.
With the latest deployment, the total number of forces deployed in the southern border has reached 22,646.
Prior to this, as per the government's order, the APF had deployed additional 6,000 forces after the lockdown came into effect from March 24, Deputy Inspector General and spokesperson Prabin Kumar Shrestha said.
Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal, on April 13, had instructed IGP Shailendra Kumar Khanal for the deployment of additional staff in the borders by managing the forces stationed in the mountain and hilly regions.
The number of border outposts (BOPs) both in the south and north has now reached 122 from 120. After the outbreak of the coronavirus, the government had instructed the APF to set up two additional BOPs in the Terai, said DIG Shrestha.
