Kathmandu, Oct 22 : Nepal Standards and Metrology Department has booked a total of 85 industries and commercial firms for not abiding by the Nepal Standards Act.
The Department took action against those firms in the first three months of the current fiscal year in accordance to the Standard Measurement and Weight Act, 2025.
Director General of the Department, Bishwa Babu Pudasaini, said that firms running without their renewal and using the measurement units without receiving license were punished.
During the period, the Department carried out monitoring works of 690 firms including 151 groceries, 32 whole-sellers, 60 industries, 53 fruits and vegetable shops, 38 meat shops, 19 LP gas industries, 90 petrol pumps, 145 jewelries and 103 other firms.
Pudasaini shared that separate charge sheets have been filed against five firms for their wrongdoings.
Such cases have been lodged against Gorakhkali Gas Centre, Matarani Trading Company, New Teeka Dairy Centre, Apollo Feeds and Jagadamba Enterprises, it is said.
