Kathamandu, Feb. 16: A total of 4,157 community schools from across the country have been selected for the President's Educational Reform Programme. A meeting chaired by Education, Science and Technology Minister Devendra Paudel on Monday selected 4,157 schools, informed the Ministry on Tuesday.
Of them, 976 schools each get budget for the construction of a four-room building, 966 schools get budget for constructing two-room building, 2,106 schools are selected for ICT lab management programme, 88 are selected for technical labs and 21 for new technical schools.
According to Minister Paudel, Rs. 3.6 million has been allocated for each of 976 schools for the construction of four-room building, Rs. 1.8 million per school for two-room building construction, Rs. 650,000 per school for ICT lab management, and Rs. 706,900,600 has been allocated for the establishment and management of new technical schools.
Likewise, Rs. 336 million has been allocated for 14 schools which failed to receive the amount last fiscal year.
The total budget of this year's President Educational Reform Programme is Rs 7.85 billion.
The remaining amount of Rs 1.38 billion will be allocated to schools of the local levels which have not been covered even for a single school, said Minister Paudel.
"We are in the process of managing proper physical infrastructure and ICT of schools across the country, so the programme will include all schools across the country," said Minister Paudel.
A total of 13,473 schools had submitted proposals from 737 local levels of the country. Of them, 7,986 schools had applied for building construction, 4,235 schools had applied for ICT labs, 117 schools had applied for new technical stream, 188 technical school lab management and 947 schools had applied for fenced playground.
