Surkhet, Oct 17: As many as 376 children who were in risk in the district were rescued in a year.
The children were in a vulnerable situation of enforced marriage, domestic violence, sexual harassment, and trafficking. Of the rescued children, the girl children were in high number.
According to Awaj, an NGO working in the rescue and rehabilitation of children, of them 248 were girls while 128 were boys.
Of the total rescued, 241 children were reunited with their families while 35 were kept in emergency rescue centre, said programme coordinator Pabitra Shahi.
