34 persons including two doctors, three army personnel test COVID-19 positive in Parsa

By Deepak Prasad Gautam, Birgunj, Aug. 4: As many as 34 persons including two doctors and three Nepali Army (NA) officials have tested positive for COVID-19 in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test done at Narayani Hospital, Birgunj.

Of the 34 infected, four are females, two are from Bara, one is from Sarlahi and one is a 28-year old female doctor working in National Medicall College, informed Dr. Madan Upadhyaya, medical superintendent of Narayani Hospital.

Likewise, Dr. Uadyanarayan Singh of COVID-19 special Hospital in Gandak, Birgunj said that doctors, army personnel, journalists and detained people were identified with the virus infection.

The newly detected infected belong to age group from 14 to 56 years. As many as 32 persons of Parsa including 27 from various wards of the Birgunj Metropolitan City (BMC), three from Pokhariya Municipality and one each from Jira Bhawani Rural Municipality and two originally from Sarlahi and Surkhet were identified with the virus infection.

Likewise, one person each from Bara and Pheta also tested positive for the virus in PCR test done at Narayani Hospital, Birgunj.

Along with the 28-year old female doctor of National Medical College, a 34-year old doctor from BMC-11, working at Narayani Vayodha Hospital has also contracted to the virus.

Likewise, two persons, aged 30 and 43, working at Narayani Hospital's pharmacy have tested positive for the virus. Three NA officials aged 28, 30 and 32 deployed in management of the dead body of COVID-19 infected; a journalist and a 20-year old detainee in Birta Ward Police Office have also been infected with the virus.
