By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Jun 17: Police arrested 28 gamblers from different parts of Kathmandu and Chitwan on Tuesday.

A team from Metropolitan Police Circle Maharajgunj had arrested 12 individuals from a rented room of Manju Magar in Ward 11 of Tokha Municipality Tuesday evening.

According to the police, they also confiscated Rs. 271,000 and arrested 12 individuals, including 37-year-old Basundhara KC, a resident of Makwanpur, on charge of gambling.

Similarly, 38-year-old Ram Khadka and nine others were arrested while they were gambling in the house of Hari Maharjan at Ward 6 of Kirtipur Municipality.

On Tuesday evening, a team from Metropolitan Police Circle, Kirtipur, had arrested the 10 individuals with an amount of Rs. 55,910.

Likewise, 35-year-old Indra Jung Thapa and five others were arrested while gambling in the house of 31-year-old Gud Bahadur Gurung in Ward 4 of Khairahani Municipality in Chitwan on Tuesday afternoon.

The group was arrested with Rs 33,930 by a team of the Area Police Office, Khairahani.

Police have warned people against gathering to gambling as it is a crime. As per police, following widespread risk of COVID-19, they have intensified their surveillance regarding unwanted gathering such as gambling.

All the arrested individuals are being further investigated and the legal procedure has begun against them.
