Kathmandu, Sept. 7: COVID-19 infection rate among the security personnel of Nepal Police is increasing every day.
As of Sunday, 2,161 personnel of Nepal Police were found infected with the coronavirus.
According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, 629 Nepal Police personnel working in the Kathmandu Valley have so far been tested positive for the COVID-19.
Two Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) were also found infected with the virus, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and spokesperson at Police Headquarters Kuber Kadayat.
Among the total infected, 1,211 are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals of the country, including Nepal Police Hospital, Maharajgunj, he said.
SSP Kadayat said 950 infected personnel were discharged after recovering.
Of the 629 policemen tested positive for COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley, 71 were working in the Nepal Police Headquarters and 558 in different metropolitan police offices of the valley.
According to State-wise records, 210 policemen were infected with the virus in State 1, 73 in State 2, 60 in Bagmati State, 81 in Gandaki State, 104 in State 5, 37 in Karnali State and 17 in Sudurpaschim State.
