Bhairahawa, Oct. 25: Youths have secured leadership position in the ward level committees of the Communist Party of Nepal Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML) in its first ward general convention held on Saturday.
A 19-year-old woman was elected ward secretary in Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality Ward No. 6 and a 24-year-old man was elected chairman in Ward No 13 of Siddharthnagar Municipality in Rupandehi district.
Jharana Thapa, 19, is probably the youngest leader of the UML to get elected as ward secretary. She was elected in Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality.
Bhim Bhandari, 24, has been elected as ward chair of Siddharthanagar Municipality.
Thapa, who was elected unanimously, said she would continue her study and politics simultaneously.
“We have to handle national politics,’ Thapa, who is studying Bachelors level in Limbini University, said.
She said her family encouraged her to join politics.
