By Muna Hamal, Surkhet, June 5: A 28-year old youth of Panchapuri Municipaity-1, Surkhet, who died on Thursday morning has been found to be COVID-19 positive.
He had returned from India and residing in a local quarantine. After testing negative for the virus in Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT), he was sent to his home on Wednesday.
After returning home, he had been residing at Community Building in his village, where, he breathed his last on Thursday morning at around 2 AM.
He was staying in the building with five others. He had returned to Nepal from India on May 20 and was placed at Janata School quarantine.
After his death, his swab sample was sent to Birendranagar for PCR test.
Chetanidhi Wagle, Chief of District Public Health Service Office, Surkhet confirmed that the youth had died of COVID-19 today.
Wagle said that Nepali Army had already been mobilised to cremate the dead body in coordination with local level.
The Ministry of Health and Population, however hasn’t given any information yet.
Prior to this, a COVID-19 positive youth had died in Dailekh. The case load in Karnali until now is 389.
