Strong will power made me defeat COVID-19: 74-year old cancer patient

Saligram Nepal, Chitwan, June 19: A 74-year old COVID-19 patient of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-6, who was also suffering from lung cancer, has successfully won his battle against the virus.

He was detected with COVID-19 on 21 May, after he had returned from India. Ever since, he had been receiving treatment at Bharatpur Hospital. After testing negative for the virus, the hospital decided to discharge him.

The septugenarian COVID-19 patient is also suffering from lung cancer. The news of his recovery from the virus infection has created a joyous environment in the hospital and doctors.

“It has been proved that keeping high morale will help in recovering from the virus infection,” said 74-year old cancer patient. “I had received good treatment form doctors and health workers while staying in isolation at hospital.”

“One should not panic while suffering from COVID-19. Maintaining strong morale will help fighting the virus and I am an example of it. Thus, I request all COVID-19 patients to stay calm and fight with the virus with confidence,” he said.

Along with him, his 73-year old wife has also recovered from the virus. The elderly couple of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-6, Kesharbagh were admitted to the hospital on May 21 after testing positive for the virus.

After a month-long treatment, the couple have been able to defeat the virus infection.

Lila Poudel, information officer of the hospital, informed that both the elderlies tested negative for the virus in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test done on Thursday.

“Due to high will power, the couple have been able to recover from the virus despite their old age and suffering from lungs cancer,” said Dr Bhoj Raj Adhikari, Chairman of Bharatpur Hospital.
