By Laxmi Prasad Upadhyaya, Kathmandu, Apr. 27: Dead body of seven musk deers and one vulture has been found today at Kyanju area of Sagarmatha National Park.

The hunter had taken the musk of three deers, leaving the corpses in a trap in the National Park premises.

Dozens of human settlements are found in the main area of Sagarmatha National Park. Khumjunh, Lausasa, Khunde, Namche, Tyangboche villages of Pasang Rural Municipality are also located within the national park.

A woman of Tyangboche village had seen the dead deers in the jungle and then informed the Army on Sunday.

Bhumi Raj Upadhyaya, Chief Conservation Officer, said, "As the place of incident was far from the main office of the National Park, we reached there on Monday."

Upadhyayay said that they had safely kept musk of one deer while the remaining three deers were suspected to be does.

"We have initiated investigation into the incident," said Upadhyaya. "We have expanded patrolling in suspicious places."
Sonam Gyaljen Sherpa, Chairman of Sagarmatha National Park Central Area Management Committee, said that the hunters had laid 60 traps to kill musk deers in the jungle amid the nationwide lockdown.

The locals, along with team of Nepali Army and National Park have already reached the place of incident.

According to Sherpa, the state of dead body of musk deers suggested that the crime was committed in the last seven days.

Four dead bodies of the deer have already rotten while the remaining bodies look like they were killed 2-3 days ago.
