By Keshab Raj Poudel, Kathmandu, July 21: The Federation of Nepali National Transport Entrepreneurs Association (FNNTEA), Nepal Transport Workers Association, All Nepal Transport Workers Association and Independent Transport Workers Association of Nepal jointly announced that all small, medium and long route transportation services would be resumed from July 23.
In a joint press conference organised in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the associations of transport entrepreneurs informed that all transport services halted due to the nationwide lockdown implemented from March 24 to curb COVID-19 spread would come into operation from July 23.
All transport workers will be subjected to COVID-19 insurance, where 50 per cent would be borne by the government and 50 per cent by the concerned transportation entrepreneur.
Likewise, a fund would be managed by the government for relief to transportation worker in case of death due to COVID-19.
All the safety equipment such as masks, gloves, sanitisers and Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) would be provided to the labourers by the companies and entrepreneurs associated with the FNNTEA.
The transport entrepreneurs present in the press conference said that the Monetary Policy had addressed their concerns. We believe that all the policies of the government concerning the transportation industry will be implemented thoroughly, they said.
