BY TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct. 18: The hike in public transport fare in Bagmati Pradesh has become effective from today.
According to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development of the Bagmati Province Government, there is a new fare adjustment increased by 23 per cent.
According to the fare hiked by the province government, public transport up to five kilometres in the Kathmandu Valley now has to pay Rs 18.
According to the Ministry, the fare has been adjusted for the first time after 2075 BS at the request of the Department of Transport Management.
According to the increased fare, it has been decided to charge Rs 23 for 10 km, Rs 27 for 15 km, Rs 30 for 20 km and Rs 35 for 20 km, said ministry spokesperson Navin Kumar Singh.
A vehicle with authentication from the Vehicle Fitness Test Centre or Transport Management Office regarding deluxe services has been allowed to charge 20 per cent more than the set fare. Passengers will be able to carry goods up to 15 kg free of cost and up to 10 kg at the rate of Rs 5 per kg.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Development of Bagmati informed of the hike through a statement on October 8 and stated that the new fare will be implemented from October 18 (today).
