Baglung, Mar. 16: Ministry for Social Development of Gandaki Province has started preparation classes targeting Public Service Commission’s (PSC) examination, aiming at uplifting the overall status of the women from marginalised community in Baglung district.
The District Coordinating Committee, with the financial support from the Ministry, has been conducting classes for 35 such women trainees.
Khim Bahadur BK, administrative officer of the Committee, informed that the 15-day preparation classes aiming for fourth-level position (Kharidaar) were being conducted. Trainees are provided with educational materials alongside lunch for free.
What’s more, the classes are being facilitated by the deputy secretary and officer-level employees working at the district headquarters.
Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Rajendra Dhungana, said that the training was conducted with the aim of increasing economically-deprived, socially-backward Dalit and Indigenous women's equal access to crucial areas of the state.
Yamuna BK, a participant, said that the training would prove to be a boon for women from the poor economical background.
Women from all over the district, mostly rural areas, have availed themselves of the facilities.
In the training, the participants will learn how to read and write well enough to pass the examination with flying colors. The Ministry has earmarked Rs. 280, 000 for the programme.
This is the first time such classes are being run in the district from the government’s initiative.
