Finance Minister and spokesperson of the government of Province 2 informed that a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Province 2 held the other day decided to call the meeting of the Assembly to fix the name of the province and its capital as well as to endorse different Acts.
The Province 2 government which is led by Janata Samajwadi Party enjoys the support of a two-thirds majority of the provincial lawmakers as it is a coalition government of four political parties.

The political parties in the coalition government are yet to strike an agreement over the name of the province and its capital.
Of the political parties in the government, Nepali Congress, which was the opposition party earlier, had proposed for Mithila-Bhojapura as the name of the province. CPN (UML) had also agreed to the name of the province while CPN (Maoist Center) had disagreement with the naming of the province. CPN (Maoist Center) is, however, reported now that the party will support the name as Madhes Pradesh.
All the political parties have agreement on the name of the capital of the provincial government as Janakpurdham.
