Prime Minister Oli seeks further planning from ministers to contain COVID-19

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Aug. 19: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Wednesday asked the concerned ministries to table strategic and creative plans and programmes to contain the impact of the growing rate of the coronavirus infection.

A meeting of the directive committee of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) held in his official residence in Baluwatar, Prime Minister Oli directed the ministers to bring effective strategies and plans as the crisis of the COVID-19 was deepening in the society.

"The virus is gradually entering the community, and we all should act immediately and effectively before it becomes too late," Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and coordinator of the CCMC directive committee Mahendra Prasad Guragain said quoting the PM.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli thanked all the ministries and concerned stakeholders associated with and engaged in containing the global coronavirus for the dedication they have shown since the first coronavirus case was confirmed in the country.

Today, the meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Oli himself; in the past, DPM and Defence Minister Ishwar Pokhrel used to lead the meeting.

A Cabinet meeting was called for tomorrow, and the meeting might take some more decisions regarding the COVID-19 and its control measures, he informed.

In today's meeting, statistical records, trend and graph of the COVID-19 infection rates in Nepal were analaysed and the Prime Minister was briefed about the present status of the virus infection in the country, Secretary Guragain said.

Meanwhile, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekh Raj Bhatta said that Prime Minister Oli in the  meeting sought preparations and future planning from the concerned ministries  to contain the increasing graph of the virus infections.
