Kathmandu, Jan. 3

Yeti Airline’s two aircrafts, en route to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj and Tumlingtar made an emergency landing today at Janakpur Airport, due to bad weather of Kathmandu.

“As the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) was closed for half an hour due to weather constraints, two aircrafts of Yeti airlines were forced to make emergency landing at Janakpur airport,” said Yubaraj Ghimire, Station Manager for Yeti Airlines at Janakpur airport.

The two aircrafts were diverted to Janakpur due to poor visibility, caused by rainfall in Kathmandu.

Station Manager Ghimire further informed that the Kathmandu-bound aircrafts had already taken off after the TIA reopened.

Meanwhile, according to RSS, Debendra KC, general manager of TIA said that rain had partially affected domestic flights at TIA.

KC said that International flights, however, had not been affected.

Domestic flights to high mountainous and hilly areas where snowfall has occurred in particular have been affected, he said. The total 28 air service providers have been operating flights from the airport.
The weather will witness changes and there are possibilities of light rain and snowfall especially in mountainous and hilly areas for the next three days due to the influence of the westerly low pressure system, said the Meteorological Forecasting Division, adding that Kathmandu today recorded minimum 5 degrees Celsius temperature and maximum 18 degrees.
