By Shiva Shankar Mishra, Bara, Aug. 17: The police had to open 13 round of blank fire to control a clash between two groups of villagers here.
The police also used six round of tear gas to disperse the crowd.
The skirmish occurred over fishing in the irrigation canal and the people of Partewa, Ward 6 of Aadarshkotwal Rural Municipality and that of Bhagawanpurtol of Ward 11 of Simraungadh Municipality gathered to oppose each other, which resulted in five people being injured.
Deputy Inspector of Police (DSP) Gautam Mishra of Bara District Police Office said that the police used 13 round of blank fire and six round of tear gas to disperse the crowd of over a thousand irate people.
Rudra Prasad Pandit, Chief District Officer of Bara, said that the situation was brought under control after additional police force from Area Police Office of Simraungadh was mobilised to disperse the crowd.
He said the details about the injured was yet be received and that they were being treated at the local health posts.
