By Deepak Prasad Gautam, Birgunj, Aug. 7: As many as 133 new cases have been recorded in Parsa district on Friday.
In the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test done at Narayani Hospital laboratory, the virus infection was detected in 133 persons.
Prior to this, on August 5, as many as 112 persons had tested positive for COVID-19 in the district.
Dr. Madan Upadhyaya, medical superintendent of Narayani Hospital, said that 43 detainees of Parsa District Police Office, five Nepali Army (NA) personnel were also detected with the virus infection.
"Of the 133 newly identified COVID-19 infected, two are from Parsagadhi and 131 are from Birgunj Metropolitan City," said Dr. Upadhyaya.
Also, four persons each from Bara and Rautahat tested positive for the virus in the PCR test done at Narayani Hospital.
A Police official and 43 detainees of Parsa District Police Office, five NA officials, 22 of Shrisirya Khalwatoa, two of Birgunj Prison and one official each of National Medical College, Terai Hospital and Animal Hospital were found with the SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Likewise, COVID-19 was also detected in Shripur, Tejarath Tol, Chinimil, Gandak Bahuari, Murli, Vishwa, Ghadiarwa Pokhari, Ashoka Batika, Chapkaiya, Sabaithaba, Pipara, Ranighar, Pratima Chowk, Ganeshman Chowk, Adarsanagar, Bhawanipur, Alau and areas near the dry port.
The COVID-19 caseload of Parsa has reached 904.
