By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 14: As many as 2,607 people have been found infected with the novel coronavirus in the Kathmandu Valley alone in the last 24 hours.
According to the data of the Ministry of Health and Population, the number of people in the valley who tested positive in either the PCR or antigen tests in the last 24 hours is 2,607.
This number amounts to 51.61 per cent of the total new infections in the country.
1,913 people tested positive for the virus in Kathmandu, 317 in Bhaktapur and 377 in Lalitpur in the last 24 hours.
There are 7,625 active cases of COVID-19 in the Kathmandu district alone, according to the MoHP. So far, 2,243 people have succumbed to the virus infection in the Kathmandu district where 254,104 people have recovered from the infection of the total 263,972 infected people.
In Bhaktapur, 31,311 people have been found infected with the virus, and of them, 29, 622 have got over the virus while 438 succumbed to it. There are 1251 active cases of COVID-19 in the district.
Similarly, in Lalitpur, 53,035 have been found infected with the virus so far and of them, 50,389 have got over it whereas 711 succumbed to the infection. There are1,935 active cases in the district.
