By Ajita Rijal, Kathmandu, May 9: One female COVID-19 patient has been discharged from Seti Hospital in Dhangadi, Kailali. She was discharged on the 35th day of hospitalisation, said Dr Bikash Devkota, MoHP Spokesperson, at the daily press briefing. With this, the total number of recovery has reached 31.

The number of PCR sample tests carried out nationwide has reached 16,309. Likewise, 55,930 Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) have been conducted in the seven states with 1,742 RDT conducted in the past 24 hours, informed Dr Devkota.

Also, 14,592 people are under quarantine in the seven states, as per the latest update from MoHP.

A total of 143 potentially infected people are admitted to isolation wards in various hospitals including two in Kathmandu valley and 141 outside Kathmandu as per MoHP update.  

Joint team deployed to collect over 5300 swabs

Meanwhile, the government continues to put in extra effort to expand the PCR testing services across the country.

In this regards, a joint team from MoHP’s Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) and Nepal Army’s unified health team has been deployed since Friday to the selected districts like Udaypur in State 1, Rautahat, Parsa and Bara in State 2 and majority of districts in State 5 with the aim of collecting over 5,320 swab samples for PCR test, said Dr. Devkota.

“Around 400 have already been collected and it is ongoing. In the next three days from today, the joint team aims to reach this targeted number of 5,320 samples collection for testing” shared Dr. Devkota.
