Kathmandu, Jan 23: According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 88 per cent of the confirmed corona infections in Nepal are new variant of Coronavirus 'Omicron'.
Joint spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, confirmed that the omicron has been found in 28 samples and the delta variant in four samples out of total of 32 gene sequencing.
Omicron was confirmed in 88 per cent of those who tested positive for the S gene, he said. According to Dr Adhikari, the Omicron variant has replaced Delta in Nepal as in other countries.
