Kathmandu, Oct. 10: Newly appointed Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gajendra Bahadur Hamal has resigned from his post.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had requested Hamal to resign after questions were raised about his appointment. Accepting the request of the Prime Minister, Hamal resigned from the post on Sunday morning.

Hamal has resigned from the post after being questioned by various media outlets and legal experts.

"Honorable Prime Minister, I have been active in various positions of the Congress for a long time and have also served as the party president of Banke district. Currently, the news spread in various media outlets and lawyers have unfairly misrepresented my appointment, and such news has devalued my years of fighting for democracy, rule of law and the principle of separation of powers between state bodies. However, since the question of my appointment has been raised, I have resigned from the post of the minister as it is not appropriate for me to remain in the post of minister amid such apprehensions." He wrote on his resignation letter.

Prime Minister Deuba has accepted Hamal's resignation on Sunday morning. Hamal has been active in Nepali Congress politics for a long time. He has been working in various positions of the Nepali Congress since 2027 BS.
