By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 24: The lockdown ordered by the government has come into force from 6:00 AM today, leaving the ever so busy Kathmandu city into desolation.
Bishwaraj Pokharel, Deputy Inspector General of Police said, "People are allowed to step out only in emergency situations."
Pokharel said that the policemen were deployed from 5:00 AM today to enforce the lockdown.
However, transportation of essential goods like milk and fuels are permitted, he added.
"The government has taken this step to prevent the spread of Covid-19," said Pokharel. "We are hopeful that everyone will help us by staying at home."
