8th General Convention of CPN (Maoist Center)
By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec. 27: A standing committee member of the CPN (Maoist Center) Dev Prasad Gurung has presented a draft of the party's statute in the closed-door session of the ongoing eighth General Convention of the party.
In the proposed statute, provision of the Chairman, a senior vice-chairman, six vice-chairmen, a general secretary, two deputy general secretaries, three secretaries and a treasurer has been made.
Gurung said the office bearers will be inclusive. The central committee of the party will have 199 members and 10 per cent of the members could be nominated, according to the proposed statute.
Following the endorsement of the statute, the party representatives to the General Convention will start the discussion over the political report presented by party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.
Discussions over the statute and the ideological-political report are being held in groups formed dividing the party representatives.
Party Chair Prachanda today read out his report entitled Socialism in the 21st Century: Nepal's Path in about 2:15 hours for the representatives in the General Convention.
