Kathputali selected for Winter Film Awards

Kathmandu, Aug. 3: A Nepali horror film “Kathputali” has been officially selected for the prestigious international film festival ‘Winter Film Awards’ to be held in the United States in September and October.
The film has been shortlisted for the ‘Winter Fear Award Horror Film’ competition.
According to Winter Film Awards website, the festival will start from September 23 to October 2 and ‘Kathaputali” will be screened on September 26.
Directed by Bhimsen Lama, the film is done by Gauri Malla, Mithila Sharma, Karma, Shilpa Maske, Usha Rajak, Subarna Thapa and others.
Director Lama said that it was a matter of pride for Nepal and the Nepali film industry to have presence of a Nepali film in the world’s prestigious festival like the Winter Film Awards.
Lama is currently in the United States for the screening of the film. The festival is being held at the ‘Cinema Village Theater 1’ in New York, US.
The fictional film is produced by Prithvi Rana Magar under the banner of Prithvi Rana Productions and co-produced by Bishal Gurung, Dharma Shrestha and Hem Thapa.
Lama added that his film was different from other horror films and the Nepali viewers get fully entertained while watching the movie.
Director Lama has previously won awards at various international film festivals from his short films. However, Kathaputali is his first feature film selected for the international film festival.
“Horror film is my choice and this film is my dream project,” said Lama.
The film is written by Sampada Malla.
