By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept. 10: The Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday confirmed 576 new cases of COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley. This is the highest single-day tally recorded in the valley until now.
In 11,144 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 576 persons, 183 females and 393 males were found with the novel coronavirus infection, read the COVID-19 national update released by the ministry.
Of the new cases, 495 cases, 147 females and 348 males, were detected in Kathmandu, 38 cases, 16 females and 22 males, were found in Bhaktapur and 43 cases, 20 females and 23 males were recorded in Lalitpur.
However, in the national update, the ministry has mentioned that a total of 34 persons were infected with the novel coronavirus in Bhaktapur, which points to some kind of error in addition because in the same update, the ministry says 16 females and 22 males were found infected in Bhaktapuon that amounts to 38. Our calculation of 576 cases in the Valley is based on 38 cases of Bhaktapur.
Moreover, some 12,046 new cases of novel coronavirus infection were recorded across the nation on Wednesday, taking the national tally to 50,465 including 35,700 cases of recovery and 317 death cases.
