By Netra Shahi, Jumla, June 24: The Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) has been sealed after four health workers deployed in the academy tested positive for COVID-19.
Dr Mangal Rawal, Director of KAHS confirmed that four health workers working at different departments in the academy were identified with SARS-CoV-2 infection.
The infected health workers who were continuously attending their duties since 7 to 14 days, have been kept in isolation.
Along with the health officials, a person from Butwal has also tested positive for the virus, informed KAHS.
“As officials of different departments were detected with COVID-19, this could be a community transmission,” said Dr Rawal. He added that the investigation was underway.
After detection of five COVID-19 cases in the hospital, the meeting of higher officials in the hospital decided to halt the Out-Patients Department (OPD) and seal the hospital.
Preparations to conduct PCR test of all the hospital workers and contact tracing is underway, informed the hospital department of KAHS by issuing a press statement today.
