Kathmandu, Jan. 4: Director Janak Raj Khakurel (JK Master) is going to produce a film, “The Pond”.
Director Khakurel has informed that the script writing work of the film, which will tell the story of a family struggling to make a living by breaking stones on a river bank, has reached the final stage.
Khakurel, who had earlier directed commercial films such as “Samjhi Diye Pugchha” and “Khudkilo”, is said to have portrayed ordinary Nepalis who have lost their dreams due to scarcity, illiteracy and poverty.
Director Khakurel plans to send his new film to compete in the international film festivals on behalf of Nepal.
Produced by Bal Bahadur Shrestha, the film is being produced under the banner of Silk Route Multi-Purpose.
“I am focusing on art rather than commercial,” said director Khakurel.
“I am confident that ‘The Pond’ will increase the presence and influence of Nepali films in the international market,” he added.
